Picker's Roundup for 04/10/2014
Greetings fellow Antelope Valley live music lovers. Welcome to Picker’s Roundup, the one stop source for all your weekend entertainment planning needs. Although the focus is primarily on live performance music and the fine musicians that live and play in the Antelope Valley, we will occasionally head out of town to a particularly fun event. So get out and have some fun this week, and on behalf of local performers everywhere, we thank you for your support. There is quite a bit of ground to cover, so let’s get started. For more details, click any of the underlined links to open fan pages and websites.
Roundup Spotlight. The Tenth Annual NEILSTOCK Music and Art Fair will be held on May 17thand you have a chance to get a sneak preview for free this Saturday, April 12th at Antelope Valley Harley Davidson. The production team is holding a Shakedown to Neilstock X Day to, among other things, get the staging and preliminary sound checks necessary for a smoother day of event experience for all. There will be a mini swap meet offering music stuff and bike parts. Sound checks should start around Noon, and you’re welcome to drop by for a chance to catch a few tunes by some of your favorite local musicians. You just never know who may show up, but I promise you it will be fun for the whole family.
Speaking of Neilstock X, let me know if you need tickets. I still have access to tickets but they’re going quickly so don’t wait any longer. Message me at (661) 965-4763 or email@example.com for tickets or more information.
Roundup Tip of the Week: The Face Book Events page is a great place to show your support for your local music scene. I always click the “JOIN” button when I get an invitation to an event and here’s why. 1. It’s a great way to remind yourself what’s happening that day. 2. It shows support for your local bands and musicians. The more people that are in “GOING” status, the more likely the casual fan will be motivated to get involved. People like being with other people. 3. It’s a great way to get your friends together for a well-planned night on the town. Remember to celebrate responsibly. If alcohol is going to be part of the plan, be sure to designate a sober driver to get everyone home safely.
