Picker's Roundup for Thursday 05/08/2014

Thursday, May 08, 2014

Greetings fellow Antelope Valley live music lovers. Welcome to Picker’s Roundup, the one stop source for all your weekend entertainment planning needs. Although the focus is primarily on live performance music and the fine musicians that live and play in the Antelope Valley, we will occasionally head out of town to a particularly fun event. So get out and have some fun this week, and on behalf of local performers everywhere, we thank you for your support. There is quite a bit of ground to cover, so let’s get started. For more details, click any of the underlined links to open fan pages and websites.

As unbelievable as it sounds, you are reading Issue No. 36 of Picker’s Roundup. What began as an invitation from the creative staff at MyAntelopeValley.com last year to write about local live performance music has finally started to blossom into a useful and well-read weekly snapshot of the AV’s diverse and highly talented local music scene. Your support has been both humbling and inspirational. Thank you.

Roundup Spotlight: Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Produced and directed by Sharon Roberts, Love, Loss, and What I Wore is a dramedy written by Nora and Delia Ephron and is based on Ilene Beckerman’s bestselling book of the same name. Three shows are slated for this weekend. Friday and Saturday, May 9th and 10th at 7:30 PM. There will also be a special Mother’s Day Matinee performance with brunch on Sunday the 11th at 1 PM.

Proving that a great show is always in fashion, Love, Loss, and What I Wore has become a favorite for Mothers, Daughters, Friends, Lovers and Husbands! This intimate collection of stories, told by six women, twenty-eight characters, sharing about the relationship of life and the clothes they wore, combines hilarious lines and poignant stories that all women can relate to, and men will enjoy a peek into their closet. Some adult situations. Not recommended for children 13 and under.”

Love, Loss, and What I Wore stars Rose Storey, Margaret Wassner, Linda Hitsman, Mickie Merrick, Robin Foy, and Sharon Roberts. The play is sponsored by the Acton Agua Dulce Arts Council and the venue is located at 42248 Crown Valley Rd. in Acton. For tickets, call Sandy Madsen at (661) 269-2844.

Neilstock X is coming up on May 17th; let me know if you need tickets. I still have access to tickets but they’re going quickly so don’t wait any longer. Message me at (661) 965-4763 or pickerwoodroof@gmail.com for tickets or more information.
