Picker's Roundup for Thursday 05/29/2014

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Greetings fellow Antelope Valley live music lovers. Welcome to Picker’s Roundup, the one stop source for all your weekend entertainment planning needs. Although the focus is primarily on live performance music and the fine musicians that live and play in the Antelope Valley, we will occasionally head out of town to a particularly fun event. So get out and have some fun this week, and on behalf of local performers everywhere, we thank you for your support. There is quite a bit of ground to cover, so let’s get started. For more details, click any of the links to open fan pages and websites.

Roundup Spotlight: Thursday 05/29/2014: Epitome Press presents Chains of Prophecy Costume Ball and Charity Fundraiser. As I’m sure you know by now, Daisy’s Costume’s on the Blvd suffered a tragic fire recently. 50% of the proceeds of tonight’s event will go towards helping April to get her new location up and running again as quickly as possible. The event will feature live music from some of your favorite local bands like Mayde In Ireland and the Highway 138 Band. There will be Belly Dancing, a costume contest, as well as nibbles, noshes, and sweet treats.

Items included in the benefit auction include a professional photo shoot, a custom fantasy portrait; a hand crafted beaded Masquerade Mask, handmade Belly Dance jewelry and more. The event starts at 7:00 on the third floor of the Blvd Cinemas Building in Lancaster. Tickets are available at the door and are only $15.

Picker’s Rock & Roll Pick of the Week: Saturday 05/31/2014: Here’s the one you’ve been waiting for all month. The Cosmic Concert Series continues tonight with Lions Named Leo and the Highway 138 Band at the world famous Brunswick Vista Bowl in Palmdale. Two Great Bands for the Price of One! Tehachapi based Alt Rock Punk & Funk band Lions Named Leo will team up with AV’s own Classic Rock specialists Highway 138 Band for an outrageous evening of ball-dropping, pin-pounding, snack-bar eating fun and games beginning around 9:00. What would you expect to pay for a show like this, $20, $35? This show is the Bargain of the Week at Only $5, and you can even apply the cover towards your bowling tab!
