Free Fireworks Show Sponsored by the Lancaster Auto Mall
Lancaster, CA. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 – The Lancaster Auto Mall, City of Lancaster and Antelope Valley Fairgrounds have partnered to celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks show that is sure to light up your night. The community is encouraged to come out and celebrate Independence Day together at this fun-filled event.
“Each year, the City hosts a phenomenal fireworks show, which thousands of citizens come out to view at the AV Fairgrounds. I’d like to thank Lancaster Auto Mall, this year’s fireworks sponsor, for being an incredible partner,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “The fireworks show is always spectacular, as well as the amazing bull riding which will take place that evening.”
The Fairgrounds main entrance will open at 4 p.m., at which time attendees can enjoy live music and tasty food. The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. and include a competition by the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Touring Pro Division in the AV Fairgrounds arena. Tickets for this event are on sale at www.avfair.com for $25, $20, $15 and $10. Gold Boxes (6 seats) are available for $150 at (661) 948-6060.
The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m. and is free to all. Grandstand seating, however, is only available to those who purchase a ticket for the PBR. Attendees who do not sit in the ticketed-only grandstand seating are welcome to use the open grass area and are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets. Parking for the event is $5. Pets and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
“This year, the event will open with the presentation of the American flag in salute of the Fourth of July, under the direction of Showdown Committee Member Sandy Travis, who will be assisted by Carollann Scott, Miss Rodeo California,” said Johnny Zamrzla, Chairman of the Showdown Rodeo, Inc. “Following the opening ceremony, a full card of the best contestants in the PBR, as well as the best bulls selected from more than a half-dozen stock contractors in the California system, will be presented. We encourage the public to spend Independence Day at the Fairgrounds to view amazing bull riding and fireworks."
The PBR will feature several opening exhibitions, including an exciting skydiving performance by Jim Wallace of 21stCentury Skydiving. Live music by Jacob Nelson and the Tone Wranglers will be performed throughout the event, and, as always, there will be plenty of great food available.
The Pacific Coast Junior Bull Riders will also be on hand to demonstrate the sport of junior bull riding. These young riders are talented and entertaining, and will compete in Pee Wee Bulls, Jr. & Sr. Bulls, Mutton Bustin', as well as Calf and Steer Riding. "In partnership with the Showdown Rodeo, we are proud to bring to our friends and neighbors a top notch competition like the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Touring Pro Division,” said Tim Fuller, President of the Antelope Valley Fair Association. “Hosting events like this reflects the Fairground’s mission to promote education and agriculture. It preserves our heritage, while also creating cultural traditions like the PBR on the Fourth of July and the RAM PRCA California Circuit Finals Rodeo in October, among many other community-oriented events year-round. Come early for the PBR and stay for the spectacular City of Lancaster/Lancaster Auto Mall Fireworks show."
The City of Lancaster reminds residents that setting off any and all fireworks, including those labeled “Safe and Sane”, is illegal in Lancaster. As such, residents are encouraged to enjoy free admission to the Fireworks Extravaganza instead.
