Emergency Preparedness Presentation for Seniors at Legacy Commons

Monday, January 20, 2014

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s neighborhood services department will host an Emergency Preparedness presentation for seniors on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1 pm at Legacy Commons for Active Seniors, 930 East Avenue Q-9.  The presentation is free and open to the public.

This presentation will offer how-to information and suggestions specifically for seniors on how to be properly prepared for emergencies such as earthquakes, floods and fires.

“Being properly prepared for an emergency is important and a must for all residents, including and especially seniors,” said Palmdale Crime Prevention Officer Kery German. “Imagine having no electricity, no gas and no water. Then imagine that all the businesses are closed or have nothing left on their shelves.  In a major disaster it may be several days before help arrives.  Are you and your family prepared for such an incident?”

“While each individual’s needs are unique, everyone can take steps to prepare for an emergency,” German said.
